West Coast Flower Meander, Whales & Wine

Witness Nature's Spring Gift - a breathtaking kaleidoscope of beautiful flora carpeting the hills and fields of the West Coast plus the opportunity to sight Whales and Dolphins and choose your favourite from the excellent wines of the region.

Duration: 3 days

DAY ONE
09.00 We depart Cape Town towards the West Coast to the Groote Post Estate near Darling for a welcome glass of wine at this award-winning Vineyard. We continue through charming villages stopping for a light snack on route to the characterful town of Clanwilliam. Overnight her or in the Pakhuis Pass area.

     

We will explore the beautiful Botanical Garden, the Rooibos Tea Factory and visit a wonderful grave site of Louis Leopoldt, the renowned poet and botanist situated along the mountain pass leading into the Cedarburg, passing prehistoric rocky landscapes. Weather permitting flowers will adorn the roadside and be scattered amongst the fields. Dinner at one of the local excellent restaurants if desired.

DAY TWO

     

10.00 After a hearty full breakfast, we continue our journey through unspoilt scenery heading towards the coast, exploring Elands Bay and St Helena Bay, with an overnight stop overlooking the sea, famous for it sightings of Whales and Dolphins, in the pretty fishing village of Paternoster, a Village acclaimed for its wonderful Seafood and West Coast Lobster, which no doubt we will have the chance to taste in the evening, experiencing West Coast hospitality at it's finest.

DAY THREE

     

After a stroll along the beach we depart on our return journey to Cape Town and will visit the fishing port of Saldanha, named by early Portuguese explorers, the Langebaan Lagoon region and into the West Coast National Park where we will enjoy a Finale Picnic Lunch. En route it will be possible to taste and purchase locally produced wine. Weather permitting we should experience carpets of flowers in the fields on our return journey to Cape Town arriving late afternoon.
